Rheged Visitor Center Interactive Floor

Rheged launches its brand new Interactive Floor System at the heart of its visitor centre

Rheged is an award winning visitor attraction centre at the heart of the Lake District. Boasting several unique experiences, shops selling local produce, and conference facilities it also houses an impressive 3D cinema, showing all the latest films.

 

Problem

Having done extensive research, the marketing team at Rheged understood they weren’t maximising the potential of the centre and required a solution to encourage existing visitors to stay in the centre for longer. For this they decided the best course of action would be to find a unique feature for the centre that could also be used to boost marketing potential.


Solution

Working with the Rheged team, Talk AV came up with a solution of installing an interactive floor system in the lobby area of the centre. There was an existing, unused well due to be removed and it was decided that creating a projection to replace the well would be the way forward. This meant Talk AV would have to devise a solution for creating the first circular interactive floor in the country, this would be achieved by working closely with the design time within the company. The interactive floor system mechanics would have to be installed at a height of four metres for a projection of two metre diameter. With a mezzanine at this height with a café and other retail outlets, Talk AV suggested making the install housing a feature as it was at eye level of the mezzanine. With the interactive floor system installed in an isolated area, Talk AV provided a solution for remote control over a broadband connection. After spending a day training the staff at the centre they could log in from their office and change any of the media on display.

 

Result

The bespoke interactive floor system provided a fun and exciting new feature for adults and children whilst delivering messages to the users. Such as advertising information for the cinema, and other experiences that were being exhibited. Not only did visitors stay in the centre for longer to enjoy the feature, they also stayed longer to enjoy other experiences being brought to attention by the interactive floor system.
