Clever Thinking Design launch new hospital wing in Peterborough with the help of Talk Events

Client

Clever Thinking Design offers its clients bespoke solutions for events and exhibitions. With a network of suppliers they can produce a memorable and cost effective event for a variety of occasions.

 

Problem

Clever Thinking had been charged with the task of managing the building launch by the construction contractors, Brookfield. The launch was to be an early evening event with speeches and a buffet and also several features exhibiting the building project. Clever Thinking wanted an “Oscar’s style” grand entrance, various lighting effects, the display of a promotional DVD in a separate area and PA system for speeches and background music.

For this they came to Talk Events.


Solution

Using experience of working on building launches, Talk Events came up with solutions in specific areas in order to get guests to visit several parts of the building. The main atrium within the building was a suitable area for general congregation so we made full use of the balcony within that area as a place for speeches. We set up a four speak PA and generic lighting system for speech delivery at a lecturn. We used LED lighting to uplight the walls in the atrium to highlight specific features and rotating gobo’s project messages onto the floor.

For the “Oscar’s style” entrance we used colourful architectural lighting in order  to completely highlight the exterior of the building making it change from a series of colours. We also used powerful search lights which can be seen in the night sky from up to two miles away.

Talk Events decided to transform a separate room into a state of the art 5:1 surround sound cinema experience in order to display the promotional DVD. Using white drape, every wall was covered and uplit using LED lighting. Spot lights on the floor were used to distinguish seating area from the aisles and to complete the experience a drape kit was installed to surround the large projection screen with colourful uplighting making it a stand out feature.

 

Result

The VIP guests at the launch commented on the innovative features devised by Clever Thinking Design and Talk Events. As it was a building launch, the key was to subtly highlight features with clever lighting and displays rather than transform the venue. Clever Thinking and Talk Events worked very closely to successfully to achieve this goal.
